During our stay in Berlin, Luke and I got to continue spending some time with Lane Armstrong and Trent Beers. Shortly after they left, we met back up with Riker McClaskey and Jack O'Neill on the last leg of their trip.
Berlin is the most interesting place that I've been thus far. It has such a unique culture and is vastly different from any other city I've been to. The nightlife culture is definitely the most intriguing and definitely puts you out of your comfort zone. Overall, the city is is filled with a great deal of history and will definitely be on my list for my next Europe trip in the future.

Berlin's nightlife scene and culture are extremely unique. The clubs are insanely exclusive; some locals will wait in line for four or more hours just to get in. After consulting our good friend Jon Harold and reading some information about the clubs online, we decided to see what the nightlife was all about. In order to have a good shot at getting into these exclusive clubs, there are a few basic things you need to do.
It is customary to wear all black or dark colored clothes when going out. While standing in the long lines, you shouldn't be talking too much or drawing any attention to yourself. Lastly, you want to look like you are ready to have a good time but don't want to be overly enthusiastic. Usually it's best to smile minimally and remain as laid back as possible. With all this in mind, we decided to try and fit the part. Below are some portraits taken before our first night out.

During our first day, we decided to go see the Berlin Wall, which happened to be right next to our hostel.

It was insane to see the wall still standing that once separated West and East Berlin. Now, it's a historical monument with many different murals painted by artists from all over the world.

In Berlin, we went on a few tours that were particularly moving. Both tours covered the horrors of the Holocaust and how awful of a time that truly was in Germany as well as Europe. First, was the Jewish Museum that gave an extremely detailed depiction of Jewish life from the beginning of time to present.

Second, was the Holocaust Memorial Museum. This museum is solely dedicated to the murdered Jews of Europe and is below the Holocaust Memorial Monument, which is seen below. Overall, the tour was amazing and extremely eye opening to say the least. It was estimated that approximately 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust.

On our last day in Berlin, we visited a bar called Monkey Bar located on the rooftop of the 25Hours Hotel. Although it is fairly pricy, the Monkey Bar is a must visit and has some of the best views of the city as well as a menu full of exotic cocktails.

This trip has been all about the food. The Airbnb we stayed in during the end of our stay in Berlin was located in the Friedrichshain district, which happened to be loaded with delicious and affordable food.

Chicken curry.

This is a spiced chicken plate from Ali Baba - a Lebanese restaurant. This picture doesn't do justice to how unreal this meal and restaurant was. The plate is only €5.50, served with whole-wheat pita bread, and will keep you full for most of the day. During our seven-day stay in Berlin, we ate at Ali Baba at least five times because it was so damn good.

The Nike Skateboarding Berlin Open happened to be going on in the Nike SB shelter right down the street from our Airbnb. I stopped by for the finals to watch some of the top European Amateurs compete for a €20,000 prize.

Lastly, here are some random close-ups I took on our last day while waiting in line.

Thanks again for reading and following my journey. Now, off to Amsterdam!
